svaveldioxid are from malmö, sweden, playing fast and heavy käng since 2015. världselände is a release from 2023 on blown out media, nine songs of käng with a primitive, darker approach than the polished swedish hardcore you might expect.

raw aggression, hardcore heaviness and punk energy in perfect balance, with a natural organic thickness you don’t always get on records in this genre. the drums pummel, the riffs are thick and dense, and the vocals are mean and delivered in swedish, which adds to the brutality.

there’s a scorching vintage skitsystem power here, with moments of creeping death metal influence that push it into scandicore territory. the band’s roots stretch back to the 80s as much as the 90s, and you can hear that experience in how relentlessly this gallops forward without ever losing its edge.

lyrically it moves from apocalyptic despair through systemic critique to defiant survival: the world is ending, the system failed us, but we’re still here when the dust settles. bleak throughout, but never surrendering.
